The 2007 Broadway musical Mamma Mia! is an amusing, harmless, entertaining movie that will delight and surprise most viewers.

Cameron Mackintosh is the son of Andrew Mackintosh and his wife Angela. The two were the driving force behind the original London production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita, a show which transferred to Broadway and then enjoyed a successful run in the West End.

In 1976, the Mackintoshes decided to produce a musical version of the hugely successful Italian film.

Mama Mia is a 2008 musical comedy film based on the stage musical of the same name. It was directed by Phyllida Lloyd, written by Catherine Johnson and Paul Young, and produced by Cameron Mackintosh, who also produced the musical. The film stars Abbie Cornish, Pierce Brosnan, Dominic Cooper, Colin Firth, Sophie Marceau, Amanda Seyfried, Judi Dench, Meryl Streep, and Lea Salonga. It is the first film adaptation of a musical by the British rock group ABBA. The film was released in the United States on December 21, 2008.

The film’s plot follows a British woman, Donna, who discovers that she is the long-lost daughter of a wealthy Italian aristocrat. The film is an adaption of the book, Love! Valour! Compassion!, by Sophie Hunter.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again Review

Released in theaters and streaming on December 20, 2017, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is the third sequel to the 2009 film Mamma Mia! and is directed by Phyllida Lloyd, the same woman who also directed the original film. It is also the fifth film adaptation of the Swedish pop group ABBA.

Summary: The film tells the story of Sophie Sheridan (Taron Egerton), a once-promising pop singer, who finds herself stranded on a Greek island with three fellow singers. She takes a job as a waitress at a nearby hotel and soon falls in love with hotel owner Yiannis (Alex Dimitriades), while also dealing with the threat of her boyfriend and pop star, Josh (Sam Claflin).
